The ancient village of Dittisham surrounded by glorious countryside and the river running by makes a lovely spot for a holiday at any time of year. The dinghy pontoon on the Quay will provide children with endless fun crabbing and just along the river bank is the Ham, an open green space with swings and lots of room for flying kites, playing ball or having a picnic. Right on the quayside are the Ferry Boat Inn and the Anchorstone Cafe, both serving excellent local produce.  There is a village shop and Post Office operating within the Red Lion Inn at the top of the village.

The village is situated at the widest part  of the River Dart making it an ideal place for learning to sail and many families return year after year to mess about in boats.  There are two sailing schools operating from Dittisham for lessons and boat hire.

On the opposite bank is Greenway Quay, reached by passenger ferry, summoned by ringing the bell.  From here Greenway House and Gardens, once the home of Agatha Christie and now managed by  the National Trust is a short walk up the hill.

Dartmouth can be reached by passenger ferry which operates a regular service Spring through to Autumn with a reduced service in the Winter months.

The Dart Valley Trail covers some lovely walks from the village either up to Totnes, Dartmouth or across the river and down to Kingswear.
