Totnes is situated on the beautiful river Dart halfway between the wilds of Dartmoor and the estuary at Dartmouth. Totnes is a traditional market town dating back to Saxon times with a wealth of architectural and cultural heritage. The town is guarded by the classic Norman motte and bailey of Totnes Castle, administered by English Heritage and open to the public.
Totnes has a thriving market on Fridays and Saturdays and the town centre has a wonderful selection of individual shops, places to eat and traditional inns. For visitors using public transport Totnes has a mainline railway station with fast services to London and good links via coach and bus throughout the local area.
