Sleeps 2 + small child (4-11yrs) + dog
The Granary and Toad Hall are owned by John and Helen Cottington, who live with their soppy black Labrador, Gemma, in the Farmhouse which is adjacent to the cottages. John and Helen know the area very well and can help with most queries whether it’s the best walks, restaurants, adventure centres, beaches where you can take your dog or even how you can sit in the sun with a drink in hand and watch your children catch crabs. The hamlet of Hutcherleigh is situated in the midst of picturesque unspoilt country side approximately equidistant (about 15 mins dive) from the historic towns of Dartmouth, Kingsbridge and Totnes. The nearest village is Blackawton which is a 5 min drive. Blackawton has two pubs and a post office. Hutcherleigh Cottages will appeal to those who enjoy peace and quiet, tranquillity and clean fresh air yet still be within easy reach of glorious South Devon beaches, dramatic coastal footpaths, country walks and rugged Dartmoor.
There is ample parking and a large, safe, sunny orchard where, when you’ve stooped to walk under a spreading, ancient maple tree and a beautiful weeping beech you will discover old apple trees, picnic tables and barbeques. There’s even a Woodland Cottage where your young children might find Rupert Bear and his friends waiting for them to come and play.

When you first open the front door to Toad Hall you will gasp with delight. The first thing you will notice is the most wonderful painted ceiling, then you will spot the fully equipped kitchen (with fridge, electric cooker and microwave) and the homemade cake waiting for you on the dining table. The smell of freshly picked flowers will make you look ahead and see the comfortable four poster bed (4’6”) cleverly built into the ceiling. Wood burning stove, TV, video and DVD. On exploring further, you will come to the shower room with WC and hand basin and beyond you will find a small room with a cabin bed suitable for a child 4-11years. Then again, you could just snuggle up on your own and read a book. What ever you do during your holiday, coming home to the peace and quiet of Toad Hall at the end of the day will be enticingly relaxing.
