Things To Do

A home for all seasons, with simply magnificent views across the water and the valley. This cosy home has been modernised sympathetically to retain its Devon cottage charms with all the comforts of 21st-century living. Located in the tranquil waterside village of Dittisham, 2 Rock Cottages invites you for a romantic getaway or a memorable family holiday.

LIVING ROOM/KITCHEN

The open-plan ground floor features a plush sofa and armchair. In the cooler months, relax in the soothing embrace of the wood-burning stove (logs and firelighters are provided).

Beyond the drop-leaf dining table is the well-equipped kitchen, with Belfast sink, Tassimo coffee maker, electric fan oven and halogen hob. There’s also a fridge with a freezer compartment and a microwave oven.

ENTERTAINMENT

There is a smart TV in the living area for you to enjoy your favourite shows on demand from streaming services such as BBC iPlayer and Channel 4 (registration required) or premium services such as Netflix and Disney+ (subscriptions required).

There is also a TV in the twin bedroom.

BEDROOMS

The maritime pastels of the double bedroom are as soothing as they are refreshing. What’s more, you’ll wake to the idyllic view of Mill Creek with the boats gently bobbing on the water and gaze upon the gently rolling valley landscape and Dartmoor beyond.

The second bedroom has two wonderfully comfy single beds, as well as a TV and a chest of drawers for storage.

BATHROOM

The family shower room - laid out in crisp white tiling and chrome fittings has an electric shower, a heated towel rail, and further heating for a comfortingly warm start to your day. Guests are advised to take care when exiting the bathroom as the staircase is directly outside the door.

PARKING

While there’s no allocated parking for 2 Rock Cottages, there is free on-street parking on most of Dittisham’s streets. There’s also paid-for parking at The Ham near the shoreline.

PETS

You’re welcome to bring your (well-behaved) dog with you to enjoy a break, too. Our simple Pet Policy will be sent with our Guest Manual upon booking.

Dittisham truly is a Devon gem. Nestled a few miles upstream from Dartmouth, this unspoiled and tranquil village is perfect for a relaxing riverside break and really makes the most of its waterside location. Watersports, fishing, sailing, paddle boarding and leisurely river rides are on your doorstep. Or why not hire a boat and explore the valley at your own pace?

On land, the shoreline meadow makes for a perfect picnic spot. Downstream by the jetty is The Ferry Boat Inn – drink and dine while enjoying picture-perfect views across the river valley beyond. It’s also where you can hire a canoe or kayak and paddle the river’s shallower waters.

Dittisham is also superbly connected by river to the Dart Valley’s must-see villages, towns, and attractions. Year-round frequent ferries take you to the historic port of Dartmouth, picturesque Kingswear, and the eclectic charms of Totnes. And, just across the river on the opposite bank, a quick boat trip takes you to Agatha Christie’s resplendent Greenway holiday home and gardens, now cared for by the National Trust, and an idyllic day out.
We had a wonderful time here. The cottage was exactly as described and suited us perfectly. We were a family of 4 with 2 young boys and a dog and we had all we needed for our stay. Joanne April 2025
Lovely, clean, cosy cottage in a perfect location. Thank you for being a great accommodation choice. Sarah March 2025

The house was as we expected it to be and in line with its description. The village and the region along the Dart River are quiet. The slight negative is access to the shower/toilet is mid-stairs and rather awkward but it is okay for most visitors. People with some physical disability should check first with the agent. The bedroom has a lovely view of the Dart River - nearly panoramic. The two local pubs are tranquil places ... food is okay. The ferry across to Dartmouth is fun and Dartmouth is a lovely town. Nice stay for a few days, pity the weather was poor but then it was all across England.Jean-Pierre September 2024

It’s a smashing little cottage with plenty of character, within the most beautifully charming village. The views are amazing, especially from the main bedroom. The walk down to the river is worth the effort coming back up. We’ve seen some beautiful places in Devon this week, eaten at some great establishments and just had a brilliant time. Absolutely perfect for myself and my two teenage girls. Genuinely, the only reason why you’d consider 4.9 overall instead of 5 is because the country lanes to get there become a bit of an effort, and the sofas have seen their best days. The cottage is kept spotlessly clean, essentials are all catered for by the host. It could not be a simpler arrangements. All the instructions were so clear and issued in advance. Proper handy having the turning area right outside as well which helps with loading and unloading.Paul August 2024
Great little cottage, perfect for a couple of days visiting family. Very steep stairs so not for the faint hearted but fabulous views and perfectly located. Jo July 2024
Lovely cottage just a few minutes walk from pub and within easy driving for Dartmouth and Totnes.Phil July 2024

Cosy cottage for us and our two small children. Despite the rainy weather was a great base for exploring a beautiful part of Devon. Jen April 2024

Really enjoyed our stay. Cottage is very well set up and perfect for a weeks stay. Can’t fault it. Sarah March 2024
