Key Features

Barton Cottage is a delightful rural holiday cottage located in the hamlet of East Cornworthy, South Devon. Less than a mile from the popular riverside village of Dittisham, situated midway between Totnes and Dartmouth. Barton Cottage is within easy reach of the coast and the river Dart, making it perfect for visiting the beaches as well as walking through the countryside. Barton Cottage comfortably sleeps 4 guests, welcomes dogs and has a parking space onsite.

The cottage is accessed via the garden (please note there a flight of steep steps down from the parking space).
The front door leads into a spacious hallway with plenty of space for hanging coats and boots as well as a quirky reclaimed wood grandfather clock and mirror. Beautiful exposed woodwork and brickwork along with wood floors set the style that runs throughout the cottage.

The charming sitting room to the right has dual aspect windows, one with views across the valley and the other looking onto the garden, sofa and 2 chairs as well as a Smart TV with DVD. The exposed brick fireplace and hearth are a central feature giving the room plenty of character as well as some lovely warmth on a chillier winters evening.

The kitchen diner is accessed from the hallway and benefits from dual aspect windows, with bespoke painted kitchen units, electric double oven and hob, microwave, washing machine and Tassimo coffee maker. Dining table and chairs set in the window at the front of the room look onto the garden.

Upstairs there are two lovely bright bedrooms a kingsize and a double as well as a family bathroom. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, chest of drawers, wardrobe and long mirror, the second bedroom has a double bed and chest of drawers. Both bedrooms benefit from traditional vaulted ceilings with exposed beams and roof windows. The well-appointed family bathroom is complete with bath with overhead shower (fixed and handheld), toilet and wash basin.

There is a separate utility room across the garden which houses the freezer and provides additional storage space for bikes, kayaks, pushchairs etc...

Central heating and open fire (coal/logs can be purchsed locally)

The pretty garden at the front of the cottage sits a flight of steps down from the parking space and is quite sheltered with lawn and mature flower beds as well as pretty rambling roses and honeysuckle. Outdoor furniture makes this an ideal spot for barbecues on a summer evening. Though dogs are welcome at Barton Cottage the garden is by no means secure.

There is an allocated parking space for one car on the communal gravel drive.

It is a good walk or a short drive to the 2 nearest villages of either Dittisham or Cornworthy. In Dittisham you will find you will find two great pubs The Ferry Boat Inn and the Red Lion. The pub in Cornworthy The Hunters Lodge has recently re-opened. The closest beach is Blackpool Sands is a 15 minute drive away.

In the peak season, May, June, July and August we need to keep to Saturday changeovers and a minimum stay of 7 nights. However, please do contact me with any requests you may have and we will accommodate if possible.

Out of peak season we don't need to keep to a Saturday changeover.

Please get in touch if you need any advice or tips on places to visit, walks (we're right on the South West Coast path), pubs & restaurants etc.
