Duck Cottage is a superb holiday cottage in Tuckenhay. Located immediately on the waters edge at Bow Creek, a pretty tidal creek off the river Dart between Totnes and Dartmouth. One of the prettiest spots for a self-catering holiday in South Devon. The property is perfect for couples with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms as well as private parking space and private patio. Tuckenhay itself is well served with two excellent waterside pubs and lovely countryside walks as well as being a 10-minute drive from Totnes.

The front door opens immediately into the cosy living room, with sofa and armchairs, side tables and TV with DVD player. The exposed beams give the room a real country cottage feel. The far end of the living room leads into to the sunroom, a lovely light filled room with French doors into the patio garden. The sunroom and patio overlook the creek and provide a wonderful quiet spot to read or watch the bird life on the river. The utility room is accessed from the rear of the sunroom, here you will find the tumble drier and freezer.

The well-equipped kitchen/diner is at the rear of the property where the classic country cottage theme continues throughout with tiled floor and exposed beams. The kitchen window offers views over the creek and is complete with induction hob, oven, fridge, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher. The dining table seats four comfortably.

Glass sided stairs lead up from the living room to the two bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. On the first floor is the first of the two bedrooms, a beautiful room with exposed beams overlooking the water. Furnished with a super kingsize bed (zip and link beds so can be a twin please request at time of booking) and wardrobe. The family bathroom is also on this floor with bath with overhead shower, toilet, basin, and again views of the creek.

Up a further set of stairs is the master bedroom with kingsize bed, dual aspect views over the water and en suite shower room with toilet, shower and basin. The house has central heating with underfloor heating on the ground floor.

Cot available. Due to the proximity to the water we do not feel this property is suitable for young children (over 12’s and babies welcome).

Underfloor and central heating.

The patio garden accessed from the sunroom is right on the water and has wrought iron garden furniture this is a lovely tranquil place to unwind at the end of the day.

There is space to park at the front of the property.

A 5 minute walk will take you to the two great waterside pubs, The Maltsters Arms and the Watermans Arms. Sharpham Vinyard is also within walking distance in the village of Ashprington. Totnes is a 10 minute drive away as is the closest beach, Blackpool Sands.
Tuckenhay is a hamlet in the South Hams in Devon, England, 2.5 miles south of Totnes. It lies on the south bank of Bow Creek, the estuary of the Harbourne River, which flows into the River Dart. The name is first recorded only from 1550, and possibly means "at the oak enclosure". The village has an industrial past.
"This place certainly has the wow factor! An enchanting cottage in an enchanting location .The cottage was warm and comfortable and blissfully quiet at night. A well equipped kitchen with dining area made for easy meal preparation when not visiting local restaurants. We immediately felt we were on holiday. We could have spent all day watching the wildlife on the creek or walking along it. We loved the quiet evenings out on the rear patio, beautifully lit, where we could reminisce on how we spent each day. A wonderful holiday!" - Barbara - May 2022

"Hello, Thank you for your e-mail. We have settled in well at Duck Cottage and like all previous guests are enjoying the tranquility of the river and it’s wildlife. The cottage in itself has everything one could wish for in a rural location.I love it’s spaciousness and the light in the conservatory and having a place to sit outside in the evening so beautifully lit! I can’t find anything to criticise..I can honestly say it is one of the most lovely cottages my husband and I have stayed in. Such a beautiful location and the local walks are stunning! Thank you!
