"We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at Middle Cottage and when we opened the front door were very pleasantly surprised at how much more spacious it was than it appeared from the outside! The cottage was very clean and well equipped and we enjoyed walks to both the Hunters Lodge and Maltsters Arms (the food was delicious at both) on a couple of evenings. The cottage is well sited for exploring the South Hams and my only regret is that we didn't have time to stay for longer!" - Bon - August 2023
"A great cottage in a secluded location to access Devon and the sights. Very well furnished and homely." - Timothy - September 2022
"There were two of us and the cottage was great. It sleeps 4 but with 4 adults the living space could be a bit crowded. Everything we needed was there and we enjoyed our stay. We were pre warned about some building work on the cottage next door and as promised it did not disturb us." - Neil - September 2022
"We have just returned from a lovely week at gorgeous Middle Cottage. As soon as we opened the front door I knew we were going to love it. It was spotlessly clean and there were some lovely homely touches all around, making it very comfortable. The TV area is also really cosy. Jane kindly left us scones, cream and jam for our arrival so that was a special treat. The little front garden is a mass of pretty flowers and is a real sun trap in the afternoon. " - Donna - July 2022
I have to admit before we arrived, I was a bit concerned about the lack of on site parking, but we needn't have worried as there was always a spot for us just down the road where about four other cars parked. We never had a problem with parking and we were able to drive right up to the door to unload our luggage.
There is also a lovely local pub which serves delicious food and the staff and locals are all very friendly. We ate there every night apart from two and it is within walking distance so no driving involved. Another little gem!
"We really enjoyed our stay at Middle Cottage - it is great and it’s very well equipped. We appreciated the welcome goodies. thank you!" - Kevin - June 2022
11th-18th April 2022, extended for 2 more days
Thank you for an amazing stay. The cottage is absolutely amazing and very cosy. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. Scones were delicious! Thank you!!
Such a lovely base to reach fantastic beaches and pretty villages. Meal at local pub was lovely, staff very friendly and welcoming. We are already thinking about our returning holiday.
Thank you again.Gill, Mark and Eva x
"We had a wonderfull week at Middle Cottage, despite some mediocre weather. It's an ideal cottage for a couple to enjoy and is located in a very quiet village with an excellent local pub that serves great food. The accomodation is in A1 condition, spotlessly clean and is by far the best equipped holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. The only minor mark-down is the lack of off-road parking. However, there is safe parking on the lane only a few yards away and this didn't cause us any problems. We're pleased to recommend Middle Cottage and would be very happy to return." - Jed - July 2021
"If you want peace and quiet in a lovely village this is the place to come, don't be put off by the narrow lanes to reach it ( that's Devon) Everything you need is here in the cottage, comfy beds and the accommodation is to a high standard.Handy for Totness, Dittisham and Dartmouth, plenty of walking trails and beaches, Bantham being our favourite. All you need is the weather and we had it ( 11th - 25th June 2021) Nice pub, friendly and food good. Gets a 10 out of 10 from us" - Rob - June 2021
"We has a great week in this beautiful part of Devon staying in this lovely cottage. The cottage was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, well furnished and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed and the host had kindly left us some fresh milk and flowers, there was really nothing more we needed (apart from the British sunshine!). Middle cottage is situated in a quiet village close to the river and within a short walk or drive of some great pubs. We enjoyed exploring the local towns particularly Totnes, Dartmouth & Salcombe and also enjoyed some great food in picturesque Dittisham. there are also some great beaches within a 30 minute drive. If you enjoy walking, sailing activities and are looking for a peaceful and comfortable place to stay I would highly recommend this property" Jeremy - August 2020
“A lovely clean, comfortable, well presented little cottage. Lovely wood burner made for cosy and warm nights, well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. Short walk to local friendly pub with good hearty food, good position for walks, overall super little cottage in very nice peaceful and traditional village which made for a relaxing break.” Angie – 15-19 November 2019
“A wonderful little property in a charming village. The house is immaculate and very well equipped. We were welcomed with scones, jam and clotted cream. We loved the area and the only downside was the weather which was just our bad luck. We would love to go back.” Pat – 28 October – 3 November 2019
“This is a gorgeous and very well appointed cottage. We had a lovely stay over a few days. Close enough to Totnes, while escaping the hustle and bustle.” Paul 1-6 October 2019
“A cosy, well equipped cottage in a quiet setting with thoughtful extras. The Devon cream tea on our arrival was very welcome.” Monica 21-28 September 2019
“Lovely, tastefully furnished, well-equipped cottage, thoughtfully presented. Very comfortable. It’s well placed for exploring Dartmouth/Totnes area but there’s no public transport from Cornworthy village if that’s your thing. Good pub grub within walking distance however. Though only a few miles from Totnes there are quite a lot of single track, windy lanes to get there, if that bothers you. We had a great week and did a delightful walk from the doorstep to the waterside pub at Tuckenhay.” Hilary 6-13 September 2019
“We had a great stay at this lovely cottage. Had everything you could need. Would definitely stay again.” Olive 24-31 August 2019
“This cottage is so beautifully presented, absolutely spotless with great quality fittings and fixtures. The beds were so comfortable and the cottage had everything we needed. Without question we will be back again. Thanks so much for a lovely stay.” Charlotte 17-24 August 2019
“Amazing cottage – everything you could want and more in one small perfect package” Stuart – 10-16 August 2019
“Oh no we have got to go home. You have made Middle Cottage a beautiful and homely place to visit. Thank you for my favourite Sweet Williams and your kind neighbour bought me some fragrant Sweet Peas. We will be back, back, back” Maria and Gary – 12 July 2019
“Fantastic stay at nautical beautiful cottage. Provides all of what you would need. Very comfortable and very clean. Lots of places to visit and lots to do in Dartmouth” Graham and Sylvia – July 2019
“A beautifully appointed cottage in lovely surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Middle Cottage which was an absolute delight with lovely spaces to relax in inside and out, whatever the weather! It is beautifully decorated and furnished. The owners have thought of everything one could want (including jigsaws which we resorted to on a wet day!). We really appreciated the cream tea that greeted us on our arrival. Middle Cottage is a real home from home in a lovely part of the world with lots to see and do.The narrow Devonshire lanes are a delight to look at, and can be a bit of a challenge at times, especially in the height of the season we imagine. But well worth the fun of exploring and coming across another charming spot by the river Dart round every corner. Highlights for us included taking a ferry across the river to Agatha Christie’s house; and traveling back in time on the steam train along the coast.
A truly lovely holiday place. Thank you.” Veronica – 14-19 June 2019
“Middle Cottage was prefect for us – tastefully appointed, it has everything needed and provided a homely and peaceful base from which to explore this lovely part of the world. We’d definitely like to come back and continue exploring ….” Sue and Dave – 3-7 June 2019
“My 5 year old son and I have stayed in several locations in this part of Devon – Dittisham, Brixham etc, we love the area. But I really liked how peaceful and friendly Cornworthy was, more laid back, and I would definitely go back. We started to find and visit new places form here and it was nice to be able to do easy walks right from the house, down to the river. We always drive to Blackpool sands beach, but Pennywell Farm was a new one and my son loved it. There’s a great kids holiday club at Dartington (Humpty Dumpty nursery) my son love it (camp fires and marshmellows go down a treat) while I went to the spa at the nearby Dartmouth Hotel and Golf Club. I walked down to Tuckenhay which was lovely also. Middle Cottage was really nice, lovely wooden floors and furniture throughout. It was handy having a bit of outdoor space just outside the kitchen. The kitchen/living area seemed more spacious than the photos. The second bedroom upstairs is definitely small though. There are fields etc all around, it was very peaceful. You can drop stuff off right in front and then can park your car a few yards up the hill. The heating was great morning and evening. I was in during the day times and couldn’t work it out, so just put an extra jumper on and it was fine, even though it was really cold and windy outside. There were lots of extra things there that were really nice and useful – olive oil, milk, tea, coffee, jam and more that you often end up having to buy when renting. There were scones and clotted cream for our arrival. The owners were really lovely and nice. Dart Valley Cottages are always on the end of the phone and helpful, whatever comes up, like trying to find the cottage in the dark, or locking myself out” Leila – 12-19 April 2019
“This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful location. Cute and cottagey yet modern and fresh. Really lovely touches for guests and a well-equipped kitchen which can be a rare thing in a rental cottage! Would love to stay here again.” Sarah – April 2019

Would love to stay here again. Beautiful cottage, comfortable and tastefully decorated. I would recommend this cottage to anyone. Clean, cosy, tastefully decorated. Beautiful countryside and lovely pubs” Andrea – 3-6 April 2019
“We had a wonderful time at Middle Cottage, thank you so much. The cottage is delightful, beautifully done with very comfortable and tasteful decor. The bed is wonderfully comfortable! We walked to the Maltsters – deliious. Kayaked from Dittisham to Dartmouth, back up to Totnes and down to Dittisham again on a glorious day (our kayak filled your front garden!) We spent a blustery day around Widecombe in the Moor and as we leave are heading to walk around Chagford. This is a lovely spot – we came like Jane and Jim to scout out the area and have fallen in love with Dartmoor so will be keeping an eye out for our own place down here – and may well use Middle Cottage again when we next some exploring. Thank you” – Clare and Glen – 13-17 June 2018
“Thank you for a lovely stay! wonderful place” Elizabeth and Roger – June 2018

“Thank you so much for a lovely week. The cottage has everything you need and the welcome basket was very much enjoyed. We have had a busy week exploring the area and found the cottage a delightful place to return to at the end of the day. We shall hopefully be back maybe in the winter to try out the fire! Many thanks” Emily, Ben and mum – 29 July 2017
“We have spent a lovely week in this delightful and welcoming cottage which is tastefully furnished and very well equipped. The weather has been glorious and we have enjoyed having the stable doorhalf-open, giving a cool and fresh atmosphere. We have been busy, took the ferry from Dittisham To Greenway House; Kingswear Castle Paddle Steamer; steam train/ ferry from Dartmouth ; coffee at Gara Roack; the sea was such glorious blue (thanks for the suggestion) Coleton Fishacre – NT property (Art Deco) ; also visited family. Our first night we lit the fire as it was a little chilly (any excuse!) which added to the cosy feeling; but wasn’t needed any other night as it has been so warm. We hope others get to know of this little gem in a lovely area; off the beated track. Thanks Jane and Jim.” Martin and Claire – July 2017
“What a delightful cottage! Thoroughly enjoyed my brief 3 day stay whilst visiting friends nearby. Rustic but modern along with what can only be described as a fantastic fireplace which really must be impressive in the cold winter nights! Thank you for sharing your beautiful cottage!” Michael – July 2017
“The four of us enjoyed a relaxed and comfortable stay in your delightful home. It was very fresh and tidy when we arrived and there were lots of little extras which made our stay very enjoyable. Thank you very much” Sarah, Neil, Judith and Gary – September 2015
