Things To Do

The Garden Cottage is a holiday home for all seasons, blending fresh décor with homely comforts. Just a stone’s throw from the centre of Dartmouth and the waterside, its elevated position gives splendid views over the town and river from the master bedroom and the well-tended garden - a perfect spot for lunch on a sunny afternoon. Inside, feature stone walls and solid wood floors envelop you in maritime cottage charm. Plus, there’s a log burner for the chillier months. Dogs are welcome, too.

Accommodation:

From the stable door entrance, the ground-floor hallway has plenty of space for coats and boots, while the exposed stonework gives a lovely cottagey feel as you arrive. The large, recently-refurbished family bathroom comes complete with a bath, separate shower, and WC. There is also a small single bedroom on the ground floor, There's also a washing machine in the cupboard under the stairs.

The first floor houses the lounge diner and kitchen, and has access to the garden. The lounge-diner is a light and airy room with dual-aspect windows and great views over the garden. The lounge area has a smart TV and soundbar, two sofas, and a wood burner. There is a dining table and chairs set into the window at the back of the room.

The well-equipped kitchen has wooden units and worktops, a fridge, an electric oven with a gas hob, and a microwave. There's also a small freezer in the hallway.

The second floor has two double bedrooms. The master bedroom has dual-aspect windows with fantastic views of the river and garden. There is a built-in wardrobe, drawers and a dressing table, as well as seating to make the most of the view.

The second bedroom has a double bed and a built-in wardrobe. There is an additional cloakroom upstairs and a WC on the landing with a large stone basin set on an oak vanity unit.

Outside:

The garden at the rear of the property overlooks the town and river and is a delightful suntrap with mature flower beds, seating areas and lawns, as well as a decked area at the top with a dining table and chairs. Dogs are welcome at The Garden Cottage, and the garden is secure with plenty of space.

Parking:

There is no parking included at The Garden Cottage, From the front door up Crowthers Hill and Jawbones, parking is unrestricted. Crowthers Hill itself is steep, as is the walk up to the parking at Jawbones Hill and the walk from the town centre, so the cottage may not be ideal for those with mobility problems. The Park & Ride at the top of town is an excellent service (buses run from spring to autumn). The cost is £5 per day and can be topped up using the Ringo app too. There is also free overnight parking.

Availability:

In the peak season, May, June, July and August, we need to keep to Saturday changeovers and a minimum stay of 7 nights. However, please do contact me with any requests you may have and we will accommodate them if possible. Out of peak season, we don't need to keep to a Friday changeover.

?Dartmouth is a town steeped in maritime history, from the castle at the mouth of the river that has stood for over 600 years to the cobbled quayside at Bayards Cove where the Mayflower was made ship-shape before its voyage from Plymouth to America in the 1600s, up to the imposing Britannia Royal Naval College overlooking the town, defending the nation's seas since the early 1900s.

Dartmouth's renowned variety of shops and restaurants are on your doorstep, including breakfast and brunch hotspot Café Alf Resco - a hit with locals and visitors alike. At Bayards Cove, see where final repairs were made to the Mayflower before she set sail from Plymouth and onto America. On the riverside, you're spoiled for choice for seafood dining and drinks while you watch the boats drift along the river. There are also fast, frequent ferries, leisurely boat rides, and not forgetting the steam train from Kingswear and its romantic route along the valley shoreline and onto Totnes and Torbay.

Dining Out

Vibrant cafés and delis, cosy inns, and sublime seafood - all within walking distance - including TV chef Mitch Tonks' go-to restaurants, ‘The Seahorse’ and ‘Rockfish’. Local favourites include Kendrick’s and Taylor's in the town centre, as well as hearty pub meals at The Floating Bridge and historic The Dartmouth Arms. The Sportsman’s Arms, as you head out of town, is a favourite for a Sunday carvery. The surrounding villages also have culinary gems, such as the Laughing Monk in Strete, and Radius 7 in Stoke Fleming.

Shopping

Individual and independent; quaint meets quality - browsing Dartmouth’s locally run stores is a treat. From bespoke jewellery to designer fashion, eye-catching artworks and stylish boutiques. Venture into Foss Street and lose yourself in its variety - you’re bound to come away with a memento of your stay.

Towns to explore

The eclectic market town of Totnes is 14 miles from Dartmouth. Reach it by road or river to enjoy its broad mix of shops and restaurants (especially for some tasty, inventive, vegetarian and vegan cuisine). From Totnes, the English Riviera is easily accessible (including the steam train to Paignton). Torbay offers golden beaches, exhilarating sea sports, and quaint fishing port tranquillity. Head inland to Buckfastleigh to get hands-on learning about the animals at Pennywell Farm. Cute and colourful, Buckfast Butterflies and otter sanctuary is a must-see. And there’s another picturesque steam railway.

Further afield, the picturesque resort town of Salcombe is 20 miles away - its golden beaches and clear waters make for perfect lazy days, and are superb for sailing.

Local places of interest

The striking Dartmouth Castle sits at the mouth of the river. Learn how Dartmouth's first coastal line of defence kept the port safe from enemy ships and pirates.

The grand former holiday estate of the world's greatest crime writer - Agatha Christie - is open during the summer months. Explore the resplendent gardens and the magnificent house. Reach it by ferry or steam train from Dartmouth.

Tours and tastings of the award-winning Sharpham Wines and cheeses make for a mouth-watering excursion - now newly relocated to their Sandridge Barton vineyard - but be sure to book in advance.

The Woodlands Family Theme Park, just outside Dartmouth, is Devon's largest theme park, with rides, slides, as well as indoor and outdoor play. It's a year-round family favourite.

If you're tempted to learn sailing, Marshalls Sailing School in Dittisham offers sailing and stand-up paddle boarding lessons to people of all levels in a quiet part of the river just upstream from Dartmouth.

Beaches and Walks

There are superb beaches close to hand. Blackpool Sands is a 10-minute drive from Dartmouth. This Blue Flag award-winning sand and shingle beach is great for swimming. There's also a café, shop, as well as canoe and paddleboard hire. Slapton Sands (5 miles from Dartmouth) stretches out across three miles of shoreline, helpfully laid out with three car parks and WC facilities. Behind Slapton Sands, you can also take a tranquil walk through Slapton Ley.

For a more-adventurous ramble, the Dart Valley Trail is a 10-mile circular walk up and down the Dart, with crossings at Dittisham and Dartmouth. And one of the world’s longest and most-popular trails - the South West Coast Path - can be picked up by Dartmouth Castle with a choice of wonderful walks along this great stretch of coastline.
"We had the HAPPIEST of times here. Will be back hopefully next year. Tim, Kirsty, Wil (Perthshire, Scotland) Thank you xxx" - Tim, Kirsty, and Wil - Dec/Jan 23/24

We have had a lovely trip and this is our third time staying at Garden Cottage. The view is amazing and we really hope to stay a fourth time. This place is a beautiful home and it is our favourite place in Dartmouth! Thank you, The Barnards and Dotty August 2024

Thank you for the beautiful house. We, as a French family, had the opportunity to enjoy the quiet life in Dartmouth. We had a very nice walk from the house to Blackpool Beach (3 hours!!), went to see the seals in a kayak and did crabbing. Such a great time! Thank you for all! Josephine and Violette. Aug 2024

House larger than expected and very comfortable - the gardens are an absolute delight - a great find. Jim Cox July 2024
What a gem of a place to stay! A perfect space, well presented, with a magnificent garden and stunning views of the harbour. Parking was a breeze on Jawbones and the regular climb up Crowthers Hill has meant we have left fitter than when we arrived! Our trip included the castle ferry, Little Dartmouth walk, Dittisham for crabbing and lunch at the FBI, The Dolphin for table-football, Totnes, the steam train to Paignton and more!
This could be our new favourite holiday cottage. Many thanks, Emma, Charlie, Rufus and Oscar. April 2024

"We spent two weeks at Garden Cottage, lovely little house with the family. We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary (we got married in Totnes in 1998) together with our children and dog. We really appreciated the house and garden even if the weather has been unpredictable. Dartmouth is a great place with lots of activities. We recommend the steam train and boat! We will be back in 5 years time! Xxx" - The Langlois family" August 2023

"Fantastic stay in a gem of a cottage! Whole family had a lovely time, but it would have helped to be part-mountain-goat to get up that hill! Definitely recommend The Bull Inn in Totnes for a meal! Xxx " Parker Family, 3rd to 10th October 2022

"Characterful cottage which is well equipped, with views of the beautiful estuary. Good information from 'Dart Valley Cottages' with appropriately timed texts/emails. Enjoyable stay as good base to take advantage of whats on offer, please however take care to read warnings regarding the gradient of the hill location." Jason - September 2022

"The Garden Cottage is a place one enjoys to stay not only on the sunny days. Parking can become a topic especially during the Dartmouth Regatta week but that was the only issue we had. Beautiful renovated small cottage, nice garden and a short walk into the splendid and nice city centre. Walking back from the city centre requires a certain base fitness due to the build of the city but Dartmouth is really a good place to be for a relaxing holiday. The communication to the hosting team was always friendly and with fast reaction times so that we really loved to stay there." Freidrike - August 2022

"The cottage is charming and the garden just gorgeous. Lots of different areas to relax in ( or play hide and seek). Amazing river views. The hill is memorable but then that’s the the views are so great. We had a lovely holiday. So many child and dog friendly things to do!" - Crystal - July 2022

25th June to 2nd July 2022: Ian, Louise, Francesca and Mabel (the dog):

"Great location, plenty to enjoy in Dartmouth. Recommend the trip to Greenway, the steam train to Paignton, Dartmouth Castle, or just relaxing near the bandstand and listening to the excellent buskers.
The cottage is well appointed and very comfortable for the three of us. Parking near was never available, being in demand from residents of the town. We found space further up the hill but manoeuvring on a 1:3 slope is not for the faint-hearted driver. The garden is beautiful, so nice to sit in different places within it. It is a lot of hard work to maintain a cottage in such good order with so many nice touches, so thanks to all for a nice stay."

June 4th: Denise and David Astle:
"We have enjoyed a fabulous 2 weeks in this lovely house. The garden has been well used and enjoyed due to lovely weather."

"This lovely cottage has everything that you could need for a very comfortable stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the garden and so did our two dogs" Denise May 2022

"We have stayed many times at the lovely garden cottage but were very pleasantly surprised to see the improvements. It looks so fresh and welcoming thank you." Denise - May 2022

May 14th to 21st: Daisy, Matt, Leni and Ziggy:
"Many thanks – a wonderful base for our first family holiday since having our daughter. Really enjoyed the location."

May 7th to 14th: The Flew family, Wiltshire:
"Lovely week – cottage very comfortable and the garden a delight. Enjoyed beautiful coastal walks with good pub lunches at East Prawle and Staverton (the Sea Trout). Excellent meal at Adria (expensive) and good fish at Rockfish, both take-away and eating in."

"This was our first stay in Dartmouth and Garden Cottage did not disappoint. The house is very well presented and the garden a very welcome bonus. The views by day and night were amazing. The location was fantastic - just a short walk to all amenities, but far enough away to be tranquil." - Stacey - April 2022

Beautiful cottage and garden which is perfect for a dog-friendly break. We felt very relaxed here and enjoyed the cosy lounge with log burner. We had two lovely visits to Bayard Cove Inn – great dog-friendly place with a nice atmosphere for coffee and lunches. Also enjoyed an Indian takeaway! Parking is a challenge near cottage – and certainly not suitable for anyone with less than normal fitness!" Claire, Ant & Daisy - March 2022

"We stayed in Garden cottage for a week with our dog whilst visiting family. Very clean and comfortable cottage with accommodation over 3 floors. There is a log burner and smart tv in the cosy lounge. Kitchen is well-equipped.Beautiful garden with lovely views of river Dart and Kingswear. Dartmouth town is 5-10 minute walk away but the lane is steep. You can’t park outside the cottage, but up the road there is free, roadside parking. We loved it and would highly recommend except for those with mobility problems." - Exley - March 2022

"We’ve just come home after a fantastic week at the lovely Garden Cottage, which really delivered on every front. The cottage is incredibly well presented, and has everything you need to enjoy a relaxed stay. The garden is beautiful and clearly someone’s pride and joy. However the highlight for me was the view from the loo( and master bedroom, and lounge…) which was the constant reminder that we were staying somewhere really special. The location was perfect for us, and we really made the most of both the quick stroll into the centre and the easy access to Jawbones, where the dog could stretch his legs whilst we took in the amazing view. Whilst we enjoyed the climbs up the hill it would be too much for some, especially as parking is a bit of a lottery." - Jan - October 2021

"Very good cottage, in great location with fine views ,the garden was fantastic, all enclosed which was great for the dogs" - John - October 2021

"Fantastic cottage – the owners have done a wonderful job. We’ve loved being here, and fallen in love with the town. The Capson’s holiday has been amazing – thank you! Jan, Deane, Charlotte, Izzy & Jake (the dog!)." 23rd October 2021

" Lovely cottage and garden, everything is well-cared for. What a pleasure to have a garden that is enclosed for dogs. Will come back again sometime. Pat, John & Dogs (Cornwall)" October 1st 2021:

" Another lovely stay. Weather has been beautiful, makes up for 2 weeks of rain in May! House is perfect for ourselves and 2 dogs who adore the garden. Thank you for new lovely comfortable mattresses. Parking permit would be a fabulous bonus. Denise and David Astle. P.S. We will be back!!! " 25th September 2021

" We had a lovely week here in Dartmouth, even if there wasn’t much sun for mid August! Only went out in the car one day to Dittisham to try paddleboarding. The rest of the time we got around on foot. We walked to Blackpool Sands, Sugary Cove and Castle Cove.
Loved our daily ice-creams, so a good job there are so many hills here to help burn them off. The garden here is beautiful, if only the weather had been a bit better as only ate out once. We also enjoyed a boat trip to Totnes.
The only thing was that the downstairs bedroom was damp and smelly so don’t think it should be advertised as sleeping 5. That room should be a utility room, not a bedroom. The Bedfords, Manchester & London "14th – 21st August 2021
(Owner response: Sincere apologies. It was discovered that the heating had been turned off at the boiler – this has now been rectified and signs added to ensure that this does not happen in future. The downstairs room is freshly decorated and is beautifully warm and inviting.)

" We had a wonderful time. Your garden is beautiful and the house so comfortable. Only thing that could be better is parking. Thanks so much, The Gregorys" 7-14 August 2021

"Had a lovely stay in this wonderful cottage. Our 2nd time here and again this place has all the comforts of home. Our 4th holiday in Dartmouth and will be returning in a few years time. Hopefully the Garden Cottage is still available to stay in. All the best, the Williams family.😊" July 2021

"Fantastic cottage, plenty of room, stunning views from stunning garden, only downside was parking, nightmare walk up jawbone hill" - Ian - July 2021

"A very comfortable cottage with a lovely Garden up a very steep hill !! You never get use to walking up the hill or the many steps in Dartmouth however not having to use the car to walk into town or explore the surrounding areas is a real bonus. Once you have unloaded the car and parked your holiday can begin. The garden was a real surprise with lots of small sitting areas and so well kept. The four of us & the dog enjoyed our week so Thank you very much." - Carolyn - June 2021

Had brilliant weeks holiday, dogs loved it, house has all you need. Will def book again, only thing that would make it 100% is a parking permit. Jan Jay - May 2021

"Immaculate cottage with a big lovely garden and outdoor dining areas. Well equipped for all your needs snd a great location. The Shambles bar down the hill is very friendly and welcoming. Loved the pop up gin bar too at the far side of town plus the cafe (dogs welcome everywhere) with the park area for dog’s to run about and a playground for children next to it - the anchor stone cafe. Boat trip or lively walk (2.5 hours) to Dittisham - fabulous meal at the sister restaurant /anchor stone cafe there - friendly and great food plus dog friendly. Drove to Salcombe (40 mins) park n drive option and easy walk in. Lovely beach to get ferry to (£2 pp each way). Awesome place. Dined at The Ferry inn - dog friendly - lovely spot with amazing views over the estuary (the best yet) and dog friendly. Had a lovely time thank you ." - Carole - April 2021

"Visited Dartmouth for the 6th time - First time in this beautiful cottage. We really enjoyed this two weeks and especially sunny moments in this amazing garden. A few steps into the City made this stay very close to this lovely place at the Dart. So for sure we will come back for a 7th time !! And Sally & Adrian have a good hand for making a place feel like home... Thanks and Take Care" Paula & Family - October 2020

"A beautiful cottage in a lovely location with a delightful well maintained garden. Great views whatever the weather. We would recommend the Ferry to Greenway / Dittisham and the steam train. For eating out - Kendricks & Platform One were very good (but you will need to book !!) Thanks" John & Zeta - October 2020

"First impressions lasted all week. What a magnificent house and beautifully cared for garden. Our week started hot and clear & ended wet and windy. Yet it didn’t dampen our spirits with much walking and a great meal down the road at The Seven Stars. We really enjoyed the lived in feel of the house and the authentic squeaking dining table. Thank you so much, it has been a tremendous break." John & Sally - October 2020

"This is our 30th visit to the beautiful Dartmouth and another wonderful holiday. First time at Garden Cottage...already booked for 2 x weeks next May. September 2020 Denise & David - Dogs Millie & Rosie

"My first visit ! This is by far the ‘Best’ holiday let I have ever been in. The cleanliness is outstanding, gardens are beautiful and I felt so ‘at home’ My lovely border terriers enjoyed it too. 10/10 for all, I hope to be back.Thank you for a great break" Lorna Smith & Dogs, Dolly & Tara 05.09.20

“...We had a wonderful stay at The Garden Cottage. Everything was clean and fresh and the beds were very comfy ! All the locals were very friendly and we enjoyed crabbing very much. Beautiful town ! We have all gotten lots of exercise from walking up the hill too. The garden is amazing and we loved the views, especially at night. The restaurants are lovely, especially Rockfish. Please take good care of this cottage. Keith, Alison, Sarah, Cora & Larry the Dog...” 2020

"Beautiful garden & cottage, everything you need. Sally the owner was so helpful in recommending places to eat. Best to park in Town and walk to the cottage as parking outside does cause some issues. Views across the river are magnificent day and night. So relaxing, will definitely be returning...' The Williams Family - 2020

"Lovely stay again, our second visit to The Garden Cottage. The views are stupendous and the garden haven. Thank you"

"A lovely cottage with a beautiful garden. The views are wonderful and it is very comfortable and has everything you need. I would say it was a two bedroom cottage, not a three bedroom as the third one is essentially underground. A parking permit would have been good to have." Caroline - July 2020

"We stayed at this cottage over the Christmas week just passed and had an excellent time. The cottage itself is very well equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. We felt immediately at home here, particularly as it is so homely. The cottage is only a very short walk from the amenities in town and the steep hill gives it commanding views over the town and estuary. Adrian, the owner, is incredibly helpful and an absolute mine of information - he very kindly checked local restaurants for availability and gave some great ideas for dog walks too. All in all, a brilliant experience which we hope to repeat very soon." Peter - January 2020

Thank you for a lovely stay! Family enjoyed the beaches and the dog went swimming. Even managed to eat out at Rockfish and Bayards Cove Inn before tier change! The Davies family. - Dec 2020

"We had the most perfect stay at The Garden Cottage - it really was like being home from home comfort-wise, and beautifully presented and appointed throughout. The main bedroom on the 2nd floor was a particular highlight with wonderful views across the Dart River to Kingswear, as was the garden itself, which was remarkably private and sheltered, with several places to sit and relax. The living room was very comfortable and the internet TV and fast broadband speed were greatly appreciated by our two daughters (16 & 11). With a 5 minute walk down the (very steep) Crowther’s Hill to the town, the cottage’s location was extremely convenient, but also felt sufficiently remote to be a quiet refuge when required. Towels and bed linen were changed after a week and instructions for the cottage and information about Dartmouth was very comprehensive. The only slight frustration was the parking on Jawbones Hill (or lack of, possibly due to it being high season) at the top of the road. We were advised by one of the Crowther’s Hill residents that part of the problem is that boat owners frequently leave their cars on the road and go away sailing for weeks or even months at a time, which significantly reduces the amount of available spaces, and on most days there were no spaces at all. However we decided to chance it and parked on the double yellow lines at the top of Crowther’s Hill most days during our stay and fortunately never got a ticket. The positive from parking the car up here however was that we could always head up and out of the town or to Sainsbury’s via Waterpool Road, rather than having to go into the town and round the one way system." Matt - November 2019

“The Garden Cottage is an excellent holiday location for us. There is just so much to see and do locally that there’s no need to use the car. Of the thirteen full days here we have only been out twice in the car to Slapton/Salcombe and to Brixham. Everything else walked, train or ferry, Fabulous !! The Cottage fully meets our needs (and the dogs). It is well furnished and equipped and it is comfortable. The Town is lively and interesting, both for shopping and for wandering. We have had a really excellent holiday – plenty to see – plenty to do.Visitors however must appreciate difficulties arise about parking. It is not easy because of the topography and narrow streets…all make the town so attractive. We would say park up and use all available public transport. It is exciting!” Russell & Lesley – 14th – 28th September 2019

“Loved your beautiful cottage and the views. Harvest moon last night over Kingswear – Spectacular” Anne Marie & Freyer – 7-14 September 2019

“Lovely Townhouse, comfortable with everything you need! And such a wonderful garden and views – a total gem! Hope to be back very soon” Gary & Shirley – 31 August – 7 September 2019

“What a lovely house and beautiful town. The garden was lovely and the house so tranquil and well equipped. Our 2yr old loved exploring and it wonderful to have our dog with us. We were blessed with wonderful weather and a couple of trips to Mill Bay near Salcombe were a glorious addition. Loved all the fun of the Regatta as well as Dartmouth Castle, Greenway & Colton Fishacre. Thanks for a wonderful week” Amy, Steve, Juniper & Toscar – 24-31 August 2019

“A perfect holiday cottage. We had the most perfect stay at The Garden Cottage – it really was like being home from home comfort-wise, and beautifully presented and appointed throughout. Towels and bed linen were changed after a week and instructions for the cottage and information about Dartmouth was very comprehensive.” Matt – 27 July – 10 August 2019

“We had such a lovely time and we were really lucky with the weather. The garden is a highlight with such wonderful views. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing stay, beautiful exteriors yet modern well furnished interiors. The location was great to be able to easily get into town – It only takes a few minutes and the walk back up the hill may be hard but worth it for the spectacular views. It was also perfect to be able to bring our dog with us and we look forward to staying again.” Anne, Keith, Charlotte, James & Flash !! – 13 – 20 July 2019

“We’ve had a wonderful stay, I loved your house, You have made an excellent job of the refurbishment. The quality of the work is top notch and totally in keeping with the original building. Thank you for letting us share it.” Jenny & Mike – 6- 13 July 2019

“Fantastic place with a lot of personal touches that made it feel like home. Beautiful garden and stunning views. We got used to the climb up the hill from the centre of the town and without it, there wouldn’t be the views. Thank you!bSuch a lovely cottage and garden. It is perfect in every way – the views, the garden and inside the cottage itself. You have thought of everything and unlike many rental cottages, this one feels like a proper home. It is a real gem so thank you. We have walked from here very day and have not used our car ” Caroline – 29 June – 6 July 2019

“We loved being in this cottage and really enjoyed the beautiful garden – It’s a delight. We enjoyed Dartmouth and area on all modes of transport! There is so much to see and do without having to get in the car.” Alison – 15-29 June 2019

“Garden cottage is perfectly situated. The cottage has a beautiful garden, is very comfortable and has everything you need. First visit for me to this gorgeous cottage, had a wonderful week in Dartmouth. Lovely walks and plenty to see and do. Second visit for Keeley & Andy, taking long walks and visiting old haunts. Could not have been more comfortable….’” Kay, Keeley, Andy & Barley – 8-15 June 2019

“Garden Cottage is very well equipped and maintained and has a real charm about it. It was spotlessly clean upon arrival and there’s evidence of some real thought going into its layout and design. Shower was good too. The views of the river from the house and garden are superb and the garden itself is well maintained and peaceful with plenty of places to sit. The weather was great so we ate outside quite a bit so sadly never needed to use the woodburner in the lounge.” Mr & Mrs Sherwood – 25th – 29th May 2019

“Two lovely weeks in the heart of Dartmouth South Devon. Everything was great about our holiday cottage though the view came with one downside. It was on a very steep hill where walking, driving and parking was very difficult for us, being a couple in our seventies. First time in Dartmouth, the cottage is a joy, everything one could want and someone has worked very hard to provide such stylish accommodation” Paul and Sandra – 11-25 May 2019

“We have had the most wonderful week at Garden Cottage – thank you for sharing your home, everything was perfect. Although we escaped rain all week we had a few fires in the evening to add to the homeliness. I doubt there is another house that can equal the wood supply!! It is a very long time since we have visited Dartmouth – there is still lots to explore. .. Your cottage was a special find with such a cared for garden” Pat and Chris – 4-11 May 2019

“We have enjoyed our stay so much, this cottage is a little gem! We’ve not used the car this week and have walked to the castle, Jawbones Hill has a lovely circular walk with stunning views of Dartmouth. It was so nice to take a boat trip to Greenway House, the holiday home of Agatha Christie. For us, we’ve enjoyed sitting in the garden soaking up the spring sunshine and never tiring of the spectacular views! We are so relaxed we don’t want to go home! Would love to come again” Ali & Ash – 6 April 2019

“A wonderful week! We feel really lucky to have found such a beautiful cottage with everything we could need. Fantastic days out in and aroudn Dartmouth with our 3 year old. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!” Gabby, Dom and Rohan – 22 September 2018

“A lovely cottage with a great garden to sit in for the last summer sunshine. Liked the views and the friendly ginger cat although a good job we didn’t bring our dog else there would have been warfare on the hill. Was a lovely base whilst we attended reunions and great to wander down to get morning coffee and pastries – that hill is pure exercise!! Was due to stay for the full week but work meant had to cut short – very sad about that as we again. Really enjoyed the views from each room and spent most of our time outside in the garden. Very happy four days” Nicky & Simon – 14-19 September 2018

“Have had a very relaxing time at The Garden Cottage. Everything is very well presented plus extremely well cared for. A bit of slog up the hill from Town but you learn not to do it too often but if you didn’t do that you wouldn’t get the wonderful views!!” Niki – 9-14 September 2018

“Lovely house, lovely weather, lovely surroundings!” Ellen and Eric (From The Netherlands) – 1-8 September 2018

“We had a wonderful stay in your lovely house. This is the fourth time that we have visited Dartmouth – and the best house that we have stayed in so far. Wonderful views, a great location and very comfortable. We enjoyed all our favourite places – Paignton Zoo, Quay West Water Park, a trip up the river to Totnes – and of course a walk to the Castle and crabbing. Many thanks!” Helen, Johnathan, Isaac, Barnaby and William – 25 August – 1 September 2018

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Garden Cottage! We have been coming to Devon for over 20 years but have never stayed in the wonderful Dartmouth. We had a bit of trouble parking each day but our old sea dog Mac loved the extra walking. Thank you for sharing your cosy cottage with us.” Andy, Sarah, Annabel and Mac – August 2018

“We had a lovely stay in the Garden Cottage. We loved walking down the steep hill to Dartmouth Town Centre and loved walking up to the wood, hard parking but a very cosy bed. It was only a quick walk to the Co Op. Hope to see you again, Thank you” Sean, Rach, Emily, Holly & Stanley – August 2018

“Had a wonderful stay in Garden Cottage. The cottage feels like home and the garden is a oasis and magical.
Thank you for letting us stay” Sarah, Andrew Howard, Mark & Jen Jen – July 2018

“Had an absolutely wonderful week, wished we could stay longer!
