Beach Days: Beesands
This mile long shingle beach offers a taste of holidays of old. Beesands still hosts a traditional fishing community suppling a lot of local businesses with their catch. Parking is free in Beesands, the beach is unspoilt and the sea clean. There are public toilets as you enter the village next door to The Britannia on the Beach where you can stop for a light bite and simple groceries. For something a bit more substantial the Cricket Inn located further down the beach to the right serves up excellent food daily.
Beesands is fairly quiet year round and is the perfect place to get away from the busier beaches. For the kids there is a play park and a village green behind the beach. If sitting still isn’t your thing Beesands is on the South West Coast Path that you can pick up at either end of the beach and for the nature buffs Besands benifits from its own ley complete with bird hides perfect for birdwatching.
