There are lots of wonderful walks throughout the Dart Valley along each side of the river or along the neighbouring coastline. With walks to suit all fitness levels and some wonderful vantage points along the way.

Dart Valley Trail

Dartmouth to Dittisham – 5 Miles

Parking available at Sandquay off Old Mill Lane. This walk follows the south side of the river through maintained woodland out of Old Mill Creek to the Dart. Across fields offering great vantage points looking down the river towards the Higher Ferry and Dartmouth. There are a few very steep hills and at the top of the final hill, on a clear day you can see across to the coast at Torbay. At this point yo can follow the green lanes down into Dittisham and stop for food and drink in one of the village pubs or turn left and follow the green lanes back to the start of the walk.

Dart Valley Trail

Greenway to Kingswear – 5 Miles

Dartmouth

Diamond Jubilee Way – 3.6 Miles

Created in 2012 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II coronation.  Starting at Dartmouth Castle where you can park, make your way up to Little Dartmouth and the Coastguard Cottages across the field and through to the farm, head inland at the farm following the signposted path up to the main road and along to the top of Jawbones. Here you will find Beacon Park where there are some excellent photo opportunities over the town towards the Naval College. Follow the green lane down to the entrance of Jawbone fields (another photo worthy vantage point), at the end of the fields you will find Dyers Woods (National Trust) walk through the woods down to Above Town where you will  head right to pick up the road back to the castle.
