Home | Recommendations and Tips | Winter comes alive in South Devon

Winter’s on the way, but there’s no need to hibernate

It only feels like yesterday we were all talking about record-breaking heatwaves, droughts, and hosepipe bans. Now it’s time to break out the woolly jumpers and wellies. But the darker days of winter come alive here in South Devon. Christmas markets, show garden illuminations, festive bonfires on the farm, and even a Boxing Day beach barbecue!

If you need to walk off some of that deliciously-indulgent festive food, take to the open moor, beautiful beaches, and wildlife-rich nature reserves – or take in a bit of everything on the outstanding South West Coast Path. Grab your best boots and get going!

Then gather around a crackling fire and remember the day’s adventures…

We have cosy cottages with log burners and open fires – homes big enough for the family, or snug enough for a couple to share.
